Welcome to our new Leticia, Colombia blog!!
If some of you have been getting my email newsletters since March, you have heard a little about what life is like it Leticia. My girls wanted me to add the phrase they have heard all their lives, 'Like it or lump it' to the blog, because, well...with all the inconveniences and life as it is in Leticia, you just have to, well..... like it or lump it!!! In a good way of course! :)
We are finally going to download some pictures for you on Jenn's computer (fast internet-Yea!!), as it takes me about 5+minutes if I happen to be on a really good computer down there-very rare! Soooo, enjoy! and once again, Welcome to Life in Leticia!!
Bethany, Matthew and I have been in Hamer Bay, and now to Jenn and Dave's & Emily's house in Vancouver, WA until July 20. Then back to Hamer Bay, and Emily will go with us to Leticia for one month on August 15th. The Brimlows and crew plan to be there beginning around the end of Sept for a while. Yea!!!!
Little villages like this are all along the bank of the Amazon river
At the border of Columbia and Brazil
We go to market 2-3 times a week.
Paul tells me Leticia is getting all cleaned up, painted, potholes filled (there are so many, will it really help?), the park redone with a sculpured mural- it should look really cool, because the Colombian, Peruvian and Brazilian presidents are coming to town for I think the 100 year independence day (or something like that) of Colombia. So they are showing off Amazonas to the presidents!!! He says there are marching bands practicing all the time- high school, military... When Paul stops to watch and listen, they call out "Hi teacher!"--oopps back to practicing!
Well, we hope some of you will come and visit us down there- we have 4(to 6) bedrooms, and beds!! plus hammocks.... :)
Love in the Lord,
Paul & Martha Robert
